Colorado River Report
October 1, 2018
FLOW: 1550 cfs in Glenwood Springs
WATER CONDITIONS: Low and clear, but water temps are cooling off!
OVERALL RATING: 7 out of 10
FOOD SOURCES PRESENT: Caddis adults, yellow sallies, PMD adults, emergers, spinners and nymphs, green drake nymphs, golden stonefly nymphs, caddis larva (free swimming and cased), cranefly larva, sculpins
THE LOW DOWN: The 2PM voluntary closures have been lifted! It's good to be fishing the Colorado some more again. If rain is in the forecast, there is a good chance you we will see it mud up pretty good, but as of now it is low and clear. Nymphing has proven to bring most success, using stones, princes, caddis, and PMD nymphs as leads and trailing small BWO patterns.
Floating is optimal versus wade fishing, but you can find terrific wade spots at No Name, Dino Truck Stop and Newcastle.
***Be mindful of all creek closures for spawning starting Oct. 1st. Grizzly Creek, No Name Creek, and Canyon Creek!
