Colorado River Report
March 11, 2019
FLOW: 1240 cfs in Glenwood Springs
WATER CONDITIONS: Slightly off color.
OVERALL RATING: 6 out of 10
FOOD SOURCES PRESENT: BWO nymphs, Midges, Stones.
THE LOW DOWN: Fishing on the Colorado is heating up! We have now seen the first wave of the mighty midgezillas. We are talking some BIG midges, no need for the size 24's, #16-20 will get the job done. If you find foam, you know you are in a good spot, clusters of midges are sitting ducks when trapped in the foam.
It still can be a little hit or miss depending on the weather, and we have already seen a few days of blow out. But little color in the water can prove to bring some excellent nymph fishing. We are already busting out stones and worms as lead flies, while trailing your smaller baetis and midge offerings. Spring is knocking on the door, are you ready?
Make sure to give the shop a call for updated conditions and water clarity.
HATCHES: Midges 16-22
