Colorado River Report

April 21, 2019

FLOW: 3400 cfs in Glenwood Springs (Check out the link below to the real-time video camera on the river in Glenwood!)

WATER CONDITIONS: Starting to yo-yo, clear one day and blown the next

OVERALL RATING:  7 out of 10 when clear, 2 out of 10 on the muddy days.  Conditions are all over the place this week as we warm up and see a bit of mud coming in here and there.

FOOD SOURCES PRESENT: Caddis adults, pupa and larvae, BWO adults, emergers and nymphs, midges, golden stonefly nymphs

THE LOW DOWN: Fishing on the Colorado is heating up! We have now seen the first wave of caddis and have been fishing excellent BWO and midge hatches for the last month. If you find foam, you know you are in a good spot, clusters of midges are sitting ducks.

It still can be a little hit or miss depending on the weather, and we have already seen a few days of blow out. A little color in the water can prove to bring some excellent nymph fishing. We are already busting out stones and worms as lead flies, while trailing your smaller baetis and midge offerings. Spring is here, are you ready?

Make sure to check the real-time flow graphs below or give the shop a call for updated conditions and water clarity.
