June 23, 2021
FLOW: 2730 cfs in Glenwood Springs
WATER CONDITIONS: Dropping quickly
OVERALL RATING: 6 out 10 if clear, less if muddy and off-color
FOOD SOURCES PRESENT: Pale Morning Duns, BWOs, Caddis, Golden Stoneflies, Midges
THE LOW DOWN: The river is high but dropping quickly. Fishing has been fair some days and slow on others.
We now are seeing caddis and BWOs, plus a few random stoneflies as we warm up. The fish are on the caddis and BWOs.
Watch the foam lines in the slower sections of the river, the bugs can accumulate there and the fish relate to them some days better than others.
You should see more caddis on the bright days and mayflies on the cloudy ones.
No need to put on the river super early, let it warm up a bit and get those bugs moving around.
