August 10, 2019

FLOW: 405 CFS in Carbondale

WATER CONDITIONS: Clear unless we see a little rain

OVERALL RATING: 7 out of 10 as we see higher than "normal" flows

FOOD SOURCES PRESENT:  Caddis, Midges, green drakes, BWO adults and nymphs, Golden Stoneflies, salmonflies, craneflies, PMD nymphs, worms

THE LOW DOWN: This river wins the "most improved" award this week. The Crystal is well above "normal" flows right now, but we are seeing opportunities here in there in soft water and deeper pools. Like any freestone, if you keep heading up in elevation you'll generally find smaller flows as you get above feeder creeks and streams. The conditions look quite different (most days) above Redstone versus below.
